Detailed description of project Back
One of the key objectives of the IDC/ODA involves overall enhancement of ODA coordination and management at both the National and the Provincial level. In the first place, IDC/ODA has the responsibility of ensuring efficient inter departmental collaboration through the cluster system. Sound cross-sectoral collaboration is imperative to ensure effective coordination and harmonization within government that will ensure proper alignment of ODA intervention to government priorities, proper accountability and strategic intervention of ODA funding and will also ensure that cross-sectoal issues are adequately are properly addressed thereby avoiding duplication of efforts.
Stronger institutional linkages between the IDC: National Treasury and co-ordination units at sector/implementing agency level will further ensure that development partner interventions also adhere closelyto the set government priorities, strategy plans and actions and will facilitate accuracy of information disseminated at the national and provincial levels.
The objective of this requirement was to resolve strategic as well as operational challenges related to the management and coordination of ODA at both the national and provincial level. The following were identified as possible areas where improved strengthening and management will address the challenges in the management of ODA to South Africa. This includes overall policy and procedural matters that impact on the optimal utilization.
