Detailed description of project Back
The primary objectives for the Africa Meeting on Aid Effectiveness and the South-South Cooperation that ensues to it are to provide an opportunity for representatives from Africa to discuss, network and affirm a collective agreed vision/message:
- In preparation to the High Level Forums on Aid Effectiveness – Seoul, 2011 and the South-South Cooperation in Bogota in 2010;
- Thereby institutionalize the mandate to ensure sustainability – Post Seoul.
The Specific Objectives were:
- Provide an opportunity for Partner Country Cluster Co-Chairs to share, exchange views on the challenges and successes of the Clusters and confirm active participation in the Clusters;
- Identify issues to form the core of the collective visions/messages;
- Discuss and agree on South-South case studies for the Bogota meeting;
- Discuss and agree an overarching process to oversee and further a coordinated Capacity Development approach for Africa;
- Finalise an African Regional Platform, as part of the formalisation of an African Network both in preparation of Seoul and post Seoul.
Type of services provided
The services were provided by 4 senior Aid Effectiveness specialists. Core services included the preparation and delivery of key papers on the following:
- The Lisbon Treaty and its implications on taking forward the global ‘aid effectiveness’ agenda;
- Reflections on aid into Africa with specific reference to democracy and governance issues;
- Views on African Position on SSC/CD for HLE Bogota.
