The South Sinai Regional Development Programme (SSRDP) is a €64 million programme launched in 2005, implementing priority projects and activities that contribute to the integrated development of the region.

One of the major components of the SSRDP is the implementation of Grant Scheme (GS), which will support local initiatives in the field of environment & sustainable tourism, local development, cultural heritage, social development, equipment & capacity building and public awareness. The total budget of the Grant Scheme implementation is estimated at € 20 million. The size of the individual Grants may vary from € 30,000 to € 2,000,000. Another € 1 million is disbursed under a Direct Grant Scheme specifically for Bedouin beneficiaries.

The specific objective of the assignment is to provide short-term sector-specific technical assistance to Grant Recipients of the SSRDP Grant Scheme of the projects in the field of social development.

Through field visits and on-site need assessment and support the consultant will provide technical assistance to projects in the field of “Social Service Provision”, more specific health services; social and health services to people with special needs; social housing; employment promotion of marginalized groups and youth. The project are implemented by (semi-)governmental organisations and national organisations with budgets ranging from Euro 0.7 – 2.0 Million.

The Grant Beneficiaries can also request one-to-one sessions with the consultants for additional technical support. The consultant serves as helpdesk for participants after the on-site needs assessment and if required conducts field visits. It is expected that approximately the needs of 15 Grant Recipients will be addressed.

Type of services provided

The services are provided by one Social Service Provision Expert.

Core services include:

  • Subject-specific technical support based on the needs of the Grant Recipients during the start-up phase of the project;
  • Tools to the Grant Beneficiaries to self-asses and improve the appropriateness of the services provided, participation and inclusion of the target groups with emphasis on women, partnership with formal and informal organization already providing these services, innovation, and financial and institutional sustainability of the activities after the completion of the project;
  • Information on best practices and new approaches.
