Detailed description of project Back

The Government of Kyrgyzstan adopted the Education Development Programme/Strategy 2021-2040 (EDS 2040) along with its first operational rolling mid-term Action Plan (APED) 2021-2023 on 4 May 2021.

The new Education Development Strategy 2040 recognises the pressing need to improve education quality along with the digital literacy and teaching-learning practices through the widespread use of digital technologies and content.

While a whole range of issues, three continue to stand out as most pressing, with most crosscutting implications and transformative potential. These are: System of Teacher Development, Quality Assurance System, and Education Information Management System (EMIS).

The overall objective of the project is to support the Government in improvement of the education quality.

The specific objective is to strengthen the capacities of the relevant national authorities and project stakeholders to improve and monitor quality of education irrespective of gender, disability or ethnicity.

Type of services provided

  • Identify capacity building needs;
  • Analyse, offer and carry out tools designed to enable development and monitoring of education quality;
  • Provide expert/peer-review, policy and ad hoc advice to the project stakeholders on development of up-to-date in-service teacher training, with special focus on ICT skills;
  • Seek and apply necessary approach at different levels to improve teacher training and ICT skills development;
  • Research, design and deliver a series of training, including PISA-like testing/assessment;
  • Provide expert, policy and ad hoc advice on necessary budgetary commitments to address the teacher development and education quality;
  • Support to develop digital solutions necessary to improve education quality.

  • Teacher Training Expert (380 w/d).
