The Overall Objective (Impact) of this Action is to promote a peaceful and inclusive society for sustainable development, including through the promotion of access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels [SDG 16].

The specific objectives (Outcomes) of this contract are as follows:

  • Outcome 1 : To provide support to the EU to implement its Civil Society Road Map, Gender Action Plan III and the Country Level Implementation Plan, to support long-term capability development of Civil Society to achieve results, to work in networks and better influence policies; and to contribute to a conducive environment that enables CSOs to be development actors. It will provide resources to support CSOs’ innovations within the MIP priorities.
  • Outcome 2: To support active citizenship to achieve sustainable and inclusive development paying special attention to EU policies of Global Gateway and the Just Energy Transition Partnership.

Qualifications

Qualifications and skills:

  • A Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Science, Education, Humanities, Community Development or Management, International Relations, Human Rights, or a related discipline is required.
  • In the absence of a Master’s Degree, a Bachelors’ degree or equivalent qualification with no less than 10 years’ experience in the fields listed above or related disciplines will be considered.
  • Proven command of English (spoken and written), including ability to prepare reports, conduct presentations, and facilitate dialogue.

General professional experience:

  • At least eight years’ general experience in designing and implementing capacity building programmes for civil society in developing countries.
  • At least three years’ facilitating multi-stakeholders dialogue.
  • Experience in evaluating proposals in response to EU Calls for Proposals will be an advantage.

Specific professional experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in the provision of capacity building activities to Civil Society Organisation such as advisory services, facilitation, trainings, coaching or equivalent.
  • Experience in facilitating consultation processes.
  • Experience working on EU-funded projects or any other development partners is an advantage.
  • Experience of previous work in South Africa or with South African civil society will be an advantage.
  • Team Leader experience in capacity building programmes for civil society organisations will be an advantage.
