Detailed description of project Back

The UPSHIFT Programme, developed by UNICEF, is an innovative programme aimed at strengthening young people’s skills and harnessing their potential to create positive change in their lives and communities. Already implemented in 46 countries, including Morocco and Algeria, the programme combines practical workshops, mentoring sessions and entrepreneurial challenges. Key objectives include:

  • Acquiring life skills: critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication, collaboration.
  • Analysing community challenges: helping young people identify the needs of their communities and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Developing an entrepreneurial mindset: introducing young people to identifying opportunities and innovation to achieve personal and community goals.

The ultimate goal is to facilitate young people’s transition to employment, particularly in the entrepreneurial field, while equipping them to become agents of change within their communities. The Adolescent Kit is a methodology developed by UNICEF to support professionals working with young people. It offers a series of tailored activities to encourage self-expression, innovation and the development of essential skills such as:

  • Communication and leadership.
  • Conflict management, critical thinking and decision-making.
  • Creativity and innovation.

Divided into four stages (creating circles, self-awareness, networking and taking action), the kit aims to provide teenagers with tools to innovate, solve complex problems and contribute positively to their environment.

The mission is to support the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJS) in introducing and implementing the UPSHIFT and Teen Kit programmes in youth centres. Specific objectives include:

  • Training youth centre facilitators in the UPSHIFT methodology.
  • Training MJS inspectors to effectively monitor and supervise facilitators.
  • Creating a core group of trainers to ensure the programme’s continuity and sustainability.
  • Developing young people’s skills and employability through educational, cultural and entrepreneurial activities.
