Detailed description of project Back

Over the past 10 years, UNICEF has been actively engaged in the promotion of the Child-friendly School (CfS) approach and development of CfS initiatives in the CEE/CIS region. Although the CfS concept has been implemented in different forms, formats, scopes and under different names, the purpose of the study is to compile all existing CfS evaluations in order to document the progress made in the CEE/CIS region in promoting and implementing the CfS framework.

The objective is to provide clear recommendations on the way forward, by (i) presenting the main findings of these evaluations, (ii) analysing trends, patterns and issues, and (iii) proposing next steps to further mainstream the CfS approach and principles in education systems in CEE/CIS. The study takes into account all existing studies and evaluations prepared in the region during the period 2003-2009 as far as these relate to the wider concept of child-friendliness.
