This audit was performed within the context of the disengagement of the State of Burundi in the production and commercial activities of the coffee sector. It was supervised by a Steering Committee which consisted of the following members:

  • Ministry of Finance;
  • Ministry of Agriculture ;
  • Public Entreprises Service ;
  • Cellule d’Appui à la Gestion des FCP du STABEX ;
  • EC Delegation;
  • OCIBU, SODECO, SOGESTAL.

The OCIBU (Office du Café du Burundi), consists of 133 washing stations, 5 SOGESTALs’ (Société de Gestion des Stations de Lavage) and various industries, of which 2 SODECO (Société de Déparchage et de Conditionnement du Café).

The objective of this audit is to draw a map of priority rehabilitations for the industrial tools of the coffee sector in order to:

  • Determine the material state of existing tools;
  • Asses the needs of rehabilitation prior to privatisation;
  • Evaluate the tools’ present market value for sales purposes to private operators.

Type of services provided

PROMAN provided the services of a team composed of:

  • 1 EU team leader specialised in the coffee industry;
  • 1 electro mechanic engineer;
  • 1 construction engineer;
  • 1 technical engineer.

All of the various industries located throughout the country were visited and assessed by the team of experts during their audit mission.
