Detailed description of project Back

The IDC unit of the National Treasury is responsible for the ODA-P from a South African Government perspective.It has had difficulty responding to the changing needs of the National Treasury, International ODA community, and regional development needs.In the light of this, a number of initiatives are seen as imperative for the good and proper functioning of the unit in the future as established by those accountable for the performance of the IDC.

The National Treasury leadership identified important considerations for the future success of the IDC / ODA and these are as follows:

  • Ensure alignment with the overall strategy and focus of the National Government;
  • Ensure alignment with the overall strategy and focus of the National Treasury;
  • Ensure alignment with the overall strategy and focus of the Budget office of the National Treasury;
  • Develop IDC leadership to advance their team’s ability to ensure the above;
  • Develop IDC individual leaders to meet their own objectives and Key Focus areas.

Type of services provided

The services are provided by a senior strategic management specialist. Core services include:

  • Developed a strategic plan that will guide the activities and cultural development of the IDC;
  • Leadership Development: Delegates (the leadership group) will be facilitated through a learning programme that is spread out through at least 12 months of intermittent learning sessions;
  • Leadership Style Assessment, Learning Assessment and final présentations.
