Detailed description of project Back

The specific objectives of the consultancy are:

  • To assist the Government of Antigua and Barbuda with the preparation of an Education Sector Plan which should be suitable for use on a national level as well as for the purpose of accessing external financing and should focus on strengthening institutional capacity, improving access to, and the quality of education at all levels.A special focus is placed on teaching of TVET and the integration of information and communications technology (ICT) so as to better meet student needs, given the strategic objectives and policy framework within which the education system operates;
  • To develop a working plan for the amalgamation of the three public tertiary education institutions in Antigua and Barbuda (Antigua State College, Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute and the Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology).

Type of services provided

The services were provided by a team of two international experts.

A workshop was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to discus major findings arising from the review of the sector, the major issues to be addressed and the proposal for amalgamation, inclusive of cost estimates and logical framework analysis.
