The overall objective of this assignment is to build green alliances and partnerships, which support a climate-resilient transition towards sustainable growth and job creation.

Specific objective(s):

The specific objective of this assignment is to support the formulation of actions for the Annual Action Programme (AAP) 2022 under Priority Area 1, Specific Objective 1.1: To promote and invest in the green recovery and sustainable growth along the agriculture-forestry-biodiversity-water and climate nexus of the Multi-Annual Indicative Programme 2021-2027.
The formulation will take into account EU Member States’ priorities and initiatives in view of developing joint EU-MS actions in line with Team Europe approach.
The formulation will also need to ensure that EU funded actions promote the cross-cutting objectives of the EC: environment and climate change, rights-based approach, persons with disability, indigenous peoples and gender equality.


General description of the position:

  • Expert category: Cat. II (>6 years of experience)

Qualifications and skills required:

  • At least a taught Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Biodiversity Conservation, Natural Resources management, Wildlife Management, Environment, Resource Economics or relevant discipline, or in its absence at least a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and 3 years of additional relevant general professional experience to that specified below or in its absence 4 years of additional relevant general professional experience to that specified below (minimum requirement)

General professional experience:

  • At least 6 years of experience in biodiversity conservation and/or valuation/transformation of natural biodiversity as capital asset (minimum requirement)

Specific professional experience:

  • Previous experience in the development and/or analysis of the inclusion of local communities in sustainable wildlife-based value chains with integrated land-use planning (minimum requirement);
  • Previous experience in at least one of the following: (i) identification, formulation and/or implementation of a biodiversity conservation/wildlife management; (ii) Experience in Community-Based Natural Resources Management (CBNRM) concept and its application using the Rights-based approach; (iii) similar experience with a development agenda and a clear focus on diversification of local communities’ livelihoods and multi-stakeholder participation (preferred requirement).

Language skills:

  • Fluency in both oral and written English to a C1 level of proficiency based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages available on:, which can be demonstrated either by specific qualifications or by past work experience in English (minimum requirement).

Additional information:

  • At least one expert in the team should have expertise in: -Experience in gender inclusiveness; youth engagement.
