Detailed description of project Back

The Department for International Relations and Cooperation is the lead department for coordinating foreign policy for the South African government, and has been mandated to establish both a SADPA and Fund in order to coordinate development assistance in the region. In this regard, substantial work had been completed in the run-up to this assignment and DIRCO required strategic technical expertise in order to evaluate institutional options available, and make an informed decision relating to the preferred institutional lattice. Once the decision was made, a high-level plan to give effect to the decisions was required.

Type of services provided

The core services were provided by Senior EUD Expert. Core Services included:

  • Completing an initial workshop to understand clearly the events, and work undertaken, leading up to June 2011;

  • Presenting the institutional options, their practicalities and implications, and the key milestones to implementing them; and
  • Participating intensively in the process to complete a resource and process plan for implementing the preferred configuration.
