Detailed description of project Back

The Government of Ethiopia and the EU Delegation will start in the coming months a programme called “Women’s Breakthrough Project” (WBP) with a total of € 6.4 million for a 4 years implementation period, from the 10th EDF National Indicative Programme.

The objective of the project is the enhancement of women’s empowerment and gender equality. The specific purposes of the project, in four target regions are: to improve skills of women willing to launch or build-up a small business; and, to facilitate women’s business start-ups and market linkages.

The global objective of the mission is to support the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs for a timely and effective inception of the WBP Project.

The specific objectives are:

  • To provide technical support to the MoWCYA;
  • To start up the implementation of the incoming WBP and all the necessary work required for conducting a training needs assessment, preparing Programme Estimate No. 1 and facilitating preparation of a service and supply tender dossier for a long term technical assistance and IT equipment & Office furniture respectively for the WBP, in accordance with the 10th EDF rules.

Type of services provided

  • Conduct a vocational training needs assessment, including an assessment of needs and capacities, skill gap and market opportunities of the WBP potential beneficiaries in the four selected regions;
  • Assessment of the functional and available training facilities;
  • Assist the MoWCYA in the drafting of Programme Estimate No. 1;
  • Assist the MoWCYA in the preparation of a service and supply tender dossier for a long term TA and Procurements (Office furniture & IT equipment according to the needs and the handover of assets acquired on the WEGE programme) respectively.

The services are provided by a team of two experts (Team leader, Education/Training expert). PROMAN provides the services of the Education/Training expert.
