The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the productivity and competitiveness of the TCc educational system while enabling its capacity to match the labour market needs by enhancing the quality of teaching and improving the learning outcomes in TCc.

The purpose of this contract is to support the improvement of teaching and learning through the creation of a mechanism of continuous professional development for teachers and school management.

The action will focus on contributing to high quality education and learning outcomes by improving the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning processes which is not only influenced by good pre-service training but, equally, by continuously training and supporting the teachers in the classroom. It will also assess the current inspection capacity and help introduce an effective inspection framework aiming to improve quality in education.

Specifically the action will:

  • Provide support to create a continuous professional development mechanism for in-service teachers;
  • Analyse and strengthen training programmes provided for pre-service primary education teachers;
  • Design and implement a pilot of an effective inspection framework that will act both as a standards setting and a development tool for schools.

Qualifications

Qualifications and skills:

  • Either a university degree awarded on completion of at least three years study in a University or equivalent institution; or an additional 4 years of professional experience (additional to the minimum number of years of general professional experience required below) related to competency-based teacher education;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and reporting skills;
  • In-depth knowledge of education policies of EU countries;
  • Full computer literacy;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

General professional experience:

  • Minimum 10 years and up to 20 years of post-graduate professional experience in the field of competency based teacher education out of which at least 5 years acquired in a Member State, in a Member State of the European Economic Area or in a Candidate Country;
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-graduate professional experience in leading teams in the public or private sector or in public funded projects of a similar size and duration as the present one.

Specific professional experience:

  • At least 8 years of post-graduate professional experience in design and implementation of continuous professional development mechanisms for teachers gained in projects of similar size and duration as the present one.
