This project is designed as a continuation of above-mentioned project “Support and Strengthening Capacity of the WTO Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the WTO Accession Negotiations”.

The project activities to build on the results of previous project and support the GoA to strengthen the trade policy and enlarge production and trade of goods as well as smooth completion of WTO accession negotiations.

The global objective is to strengthen the trade policy and enlarge production and trade of goods supporting the Government of Azerbaijan in on-going WTO accession and other trade related negotiations.

The specific objective is to support the efforts of the Government of Azerbaijan to better prepare and manage WTO accession negotiations and other trade related activities.

Qualifications

General description of the position:

  • Expert category: Cat. I (>12 years of experience);
  • Qualifications and skills required: at least a University Degree in a field relevant to the project such as Law, Economics, International trade, or, in its absence professional experience in a relevant field of at least 5 years above the required general professional experience;
  • General professional experience: At least 12 years of professional experience in international trade policy sector;
  • Specific professional experience: At least 3 years of practical experience in the implementation trade related assistance projects; Working experience on trade negotiations with the WTO, as demonstrated by the participation in at least one similar long term (minimum 200 working days) assignment; experience in a CIS country is an asset;
  • Language skills: Excellent spoken and written English (at least level 2 on a scale of 1 [excellent] to 5 [basic]); Command of Azerbaijani, Russian or Turkish languages is an asset.
