The overall objective of this contract is to improve the EU’s corporate communications and the visibility of the EU in Kenya, and to increase the level of communications on the EU’s relationship with Kenya across the board, as well as the implementation of the EU’s activities, programmes and positive results.

The purpose of this contract is to carry out communication and visibility activities related to the EU in Kenya and implement the components of a new Communications Strategy 2021-2024 and action plans in close collaboration with the EU Delegation in Kenya, and on occasion with EU Member States.

This will include the following specific objectives:

  • Specific Objective 1: Develop a Communications Implementation Strategy covering 2021 and beyond, with action plans for each year;
  • Specific Objective 2: Implementation of a media and outreach component;
  • Specific Objective 3: Implementation of online communications component;
  • Specific Objective 4: Implementation of communication products component (including translations as required).


Qualifications and skills:

  • Masters’ degree in at least one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Media, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Sciences, International Relations, Marketing. In the absence of a masters’ degree, he/she should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in the disciplines above and an additional 2 years of the general professional experience;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Knowledge of Swahili is an asset.

General professional experience:

  • At least seven (7) years related professional experience (in the disciplines mentioned under the qualification and skills above).

Specific professional experience:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the fields of media, communications, or public relations;
  • Minimum of 3 experiences in managing a communications campaign across multiple audiences at least one of which was in running digital and social media campaign;
  • Communications agency experience is an added advantage;
  • Experience working in Kenya and with the Kenyan media is essential;
  • Specific experience with communications and visibility for international organisations and/or EU Institutions and / or member states is an asset.
